53. Ghost Town

53. Ghost Town (2008) - 02/28/09 - Blu-Ray:

One would think, judging by the way this film was marketed, that this would be a slap stick comedy starring an Englishman who a lot of people STILL don't know about.....bumbling and stumbling his way through life where he can see dead people...that annoy him (according to the poster). For the most part that is true, but they keep the slapstick and bumbling and stumbling to quite the minimum. And you know what? It WORKS. This movie had a whole lot of heart and further proves that Ricky Gervais is a solid actor. This film was much more dramatic than anything I've ever seen him in and he was just superb. Unfortunately this one didn't make a ton of money in theaters which for some strange fucking reason translates to Ricky Gervais can't draw a crowd therefore no one will hire him. I really hope that isn't true since this movie is receiving a lot of buzz now that it is on DVD and Blu-Ray (which actually was stunning) and would LOVE to see him in more movies (not movies about being locked in a museum). His brand of comedy is just so smart and the world needs a lot more of that these days. 4/5

52. Street Fighter

52. Street Fighter (1994) - 02/24/09 - Blu-Ray:

Not to be confused with the Sonny Chiba Street Fighter franchise (which is AWESOME btw) or the new Street Fighter:The Legend of Chun Li,this Street Fighter stars my homeboy Jean Claude Van Damme and the late/great Raul Julia. Some might already write this film off and shit all over it but if you like cheesy action movies this one is pretty good. Being a huge fan of Street Fighter II (and if you grew up in the 90's who wasn't) this movie was a pleasant surprise. They squeeze in all of the characters from the game plus a few others from SFII Champions Edition and SF Alpha. The dialogue is horrible and the acting is probably worse but it's a fun hour and forty minutes that'll make you laugh for days on end. Please take note of the "Blanka" character.....I'm still laughing. 3/5

50. Ed Wood

50. Ed Wood (1994) - 02/21/09 - DVD:
My favorite Tim Burton movie ever. It is the perfect biopic. Johnny Depp is genius as Ed Wood and Martin Landau just kills it as Bella Legosi. 5/5

45-47

I've been in bed with the flu, bronchitis, and strep throat. Haven't watched a ton of movies but here they are.

45. Hancock (2008) - 02/09/09 - Blu-Ray:
Started off strong but this movie turns into a sloppy, wet, disgusting piece of shit in a hurry. Will Smith is still a good actor but the script is fuckin' terrible.
1/5

46. Hoosiers (1986) - 02/13/09 - DVD:
Great sports movie....but not THE GREATEST like some might think
4/5

47. Road Trip (2000) - 02/13/09 - HBO:

44. Be Kind Rewind

44. Be Kind Rewind (2007) - 02/07/09 - DVD:

I think the reason this movie did so poorly in theaters was because it was marketed as some sort of slap sticky, over the top comedy. The truth is it's nothing of the sort. This movie has so much heart and it gets better and better every time I watch it. Of course the "Sweded" scenes are hilarious but there is so much more to this movie. It's about a community coming together to save their local video store that is going to be knocked down and turned into condominiums. This movie reminds me of the simpler days before BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO, when going to the video store was a 2 hr event because your dad didn't know which movie he wanted to rent. It's sad how those days are gone and in our fast paced, ADD fueled lives there will be nothing like it ever again. Now it's all about having whatever you want at the tip of your fingers. You can download a movie in 3 mintues, watch it, and then just throw it away. Gone are the days of watching a movie 4 times on VHS with your family. What has happened to our society? 4/5

43. Outside Providence

43. Outside Providence (1999) - 02/07/09 - Encore:

I'm on a fucking roll today. 3 movies with room for one or two more.
Great coming of age movie. My favorite Farrely Brother's script. They didn;t direct this one and maybe that's why i like it so much? 4/5

42. Casino

42. Casino (1995) - 02/07/09 - DVD:

Since we all know how amazing this film is, I am just going to post quotes from one Nicky Santoro played to perfection by my third favorite actor of all time, Joe Pesci...

We're supposed to be robbin' this place, you dumb fuckin' hebe.

Listen to me Anthony. I got your head in a fuckin' vise. I'll squash your head like a fuckin' grapefruit if you don't give me a name. Don't make me have to do this, please. Don't make me be a bad guy, come on.

This motherfucker, you believe this? Two fucking days and nights! Fuck me? *Fuck me?* You motherfucker!

Fuck my mother? That's what you fucking tell me? You motherfucker you!

I think in all fairness, I should explain to you exactly what it is that I do. For instance tomorrow morning I'll get up nice and early, take a walk down over to the bank and... walk in and see and, uh... if you don't have my money for me, I'll... crack your fuckin' head wide-open in front of everybody in the bank. And just about the time that I'm comin' out of jail, hopefully, you'll be coming out of your coma. And guess what? I'll split your fuckin' head open again. 'Cause I'm fuckin' stupid. I don't give a fuck about jail. That's my business. That's what I do.

This guy could fuck up a cup of coffee.

If you ever get of line over there again, I'll smash your fuckin' head in so hard, you won't be able to put that cowboy hat on. You hear me? Fuckin' hick.

What are you staring at you bald-headed Jew prick?

Peek-a-boo, you fucks, you!

Maybe if I stick your head through that window over there you'll get unconfused. Give me the fuckin money.

You call yourself a man? You know you're a lyin', low-life, motherfuckin' gambling degenerate prick? You know that's what you are? Two small kids at home. I gave you money to pay the fuckin' rent and buy groceries, put the heat on. You know your wife called Frankie and told him the fuckin' heat's off? Huh? And you didn't gamble that fuckin' money? You're gonna stand here and tell me that?

R.I.P. James Whitmore

Just thought I'd write a post in memory of James Whitmore. He was probably my favorite character in Shawshank Redemption and actually the first time I ever cried during a movie is when he hangs himself. Also, check out Tora!Tora!Tora! He was 87.

41. The Incredible Hulk

41. The Incredible Hulk (2008) - 02/07/09 - Blu-Ray:
I'm a fan of the Ang Lee Hulk but this one is definitely better as far as action and story goes. Marvel is doing a great job of setting up an Avengers movie. Hopefully they can keep up the good work with Thor and Captain America. 3/5

40. Fanboys

40. Fanboys (2008) - 02/06/09 - Theatrical Release:

A must see for all nerds. You can tell that the studio tried to use it's grubby paws and alter the film....hopefully one day we get the original cut on DVD. Oh yeah, and Kristen bell in Leia's outfit is worth the price of admission....3.5/5

38. The Rocker

38. The Rocker (2008) - 02/03/09 - Blu-Ray:
Just an awful movie. Could of been good a la School of Rock...but this just falls flat on it's face. The only funny moment is the very beginning with the 80s hair band Vesuvius ( Will Arnett, Fred Armisen, Bradly Cooper, Rainn Wilson). Don't quit your day job Rainn...you are 1000% funnier on the office. 1/5

37. Wanted

37. Wanted (2008) - 02/02/09 - Blu- Ray:
Let's see.......Angelina Jolie is still hot yet beginning to show her age.....McAvoy can't do an American accent to save his life STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW GUY.....Morgan Freeman phones in another performance (WTF is that?!?! It's like he's taking an acting hiatus in the 2000's).....cool action but way too much CGI, the acting is decent and the story is fucking atrocious. 2/5

36. CKY3

36. CKY3 (2001) - 01/30/09 - DVD:
This isn't technically a "movie" per say; but it is one of my favorite skate videos so I'll add it. MY BLOG, MY RULES MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!!!!@! This college staple is still as funny now as it was when I was chugging Robitussin and playing Dreamcast 24/7 (well...the Robitussin only happened once). Lot's of great skating clips and some of the funnier CKY/Jackass pranks (i.e. Man running at full speed while taking a shit, SLOUZBERRY STOUFER FOR KEY KEY WOOOOOOOOOOOOW, The drive through, and of course throwing the dummy at cars). 4/5
